Cooperation between Kazakhstan and the European Union in civil aviation grows

Peter Bombay, Chairman of the European Union Safety Committee of the European Commission's Directorate General for Mobility and Transport, visited the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During his visit, Mr Bombay met with Timur Suleimenov, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Roman Sklyar, Acting Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev, Talgat Lastayev, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee, and Catalin Radu, Director General of the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan.

During the meetings, Peter Bombay informed the participants about the European Commission's high assessment of the reforms implemented in the Republic of Kazakhstan in the approaches to civil aviation management, which contributed to our country's formation as a regional leader in the field of civil aviation. In addition, the head of the European Union Committee on Flight Safety praised the Civil Aviation Committee's "open skies" policy. During the visit, the parties discussed various issues, including ensuring flight safety and expanding the legal framework in air traffic between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the European Union.

Following the meetings, the parties agreed to continue collaborating to strengthen civil aviation cooperation.

Peter Bombay is a world-renowned aviation safety expert. He has worked for the European Commission for the past 24 years. He served as the European Union's representative at ICAO for three years. For more than 11 years, Mr Bombay has led the European Union's Aviation Safety Committee of the European Commission's Directorate General for Mobility and Transport, which is considering adding airlines to the list of carriers whose flights are prohibited in European Union countries (the so-called "blacklist").
