On November 21, 2021, as part of the opening of the first flight, bilateral negotiations were held between the aviation authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the State of Qatar with the participation of representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Qatar, Air Astana and Qatar Airways.
The delegation of Kazakhstan was headed by the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Talgat Lastayev, and the delegation of Qatar, Acting President of the Aviation Authorities of Qatar, Mohamed Faleh Al-Hajri.
During the talks, the parties discussed a number of issues of cooperation in the field of civil aviation, including a draft intergovernmental agreement on air traffic and further expansion of air traffic between the two countries.
As a result of the negotiations, the parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding, according to which the text of the draft Air Transport Agreement was agreed upon.
It should be noted that following the results of previous negotiations between the aviation authorities of Kazakhstan and Qatar in 2019, a direct flight between Kazakhstan and Qatar was opened this month.
