Within the framework of the 41st session of the Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a legal framework was created for the implementation of regular flights between Kazakhstan and the Republic of Maldives. Previously, due to the lack of a legal framework between countries, only charter flights were operated.

On behalf of the Maldives, the document was signed by the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Ms. Aishat Nakhula, on the Kazakhstani side, by the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee, Talgat Lastaev. The agreement provides for the possibility of performing 7 regular flights per week for each side.
