16/11/2021

November 16, 1941 - the date of the great feat of 28 fighters of the division of General I.V. Panfilov. In a deadly battle at the Dubosekovo junction near Moscow, Soviet defenders destroyed about twenty German tanks, preventing the Nazis from breaking through to the capital.

The Panfilov division was formed in the summer of 1941 from conscripts and volunteers of the Kazakh and Kirghiz SSR in Alma-Ata. Major General Ivan Panfilov took command. The famous Bauyrzhan Momyshuly also fought in this division.

The feat of the Panfilovites became one of the epic episodes of the heroic battle with the fascist invaders for Moscow during the Great Patriotic War.

By the historical date, November 16, the Elbasy Library has prepared a video dedicated to the memory of the famous Panfilov fighters.
