The Assembly resolution, adopted at the 40th session of the ICAO Assembly, emphasised the importance of building a strong culture of aviation security. Accordingly, the Assembly has recommended that the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) further develop tools to enhance aviation security awareness and strengthen aviation security culture by making this work a priority and declaring 2020 as the ICAO Year of Aviation Security Culture (YOSC).
However, considering the severe impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on aviation in 2020, the ICAO Council decided to celebrate the Year of Aviation Security Culture in 2021.
As the successful implementation of the Year of Aviation SecurityCulture requires a joint global effort, Member States were encouraged to support actions in cooperation with the industry and other civil aviation organisations.
