Today marked the 20th anniversary of Air Astana and the arrival of the 40th aircraft in the fleet. The airline has set high standards for passenger service and remarkable safety records over the years.
Air Astana won the Skytrax award for best airline in Central Asia and the CIS for the tenth time this year, as well as its first-ever win in the category Best Service in Central Asia and the CIS. Air Astana is IOSA certified. At the ceremony, Kairbek Uskenbayev, Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development, Catalin Radu, Director General of the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan JSC, and Talgat Lastayev, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee, congratulated the company on its anniversary.
During the pandemic, the airline flew over 8,000 passengers back on repatriation flights. The air carrier transported hundreds of tons of medical and humanitarian cargo.
The Air Astana Group currently operates 42 aircraft with an average age of 5.2 years. Six aircraft were added to the airline's fleet this year, and one more is scheduled to be purchased by the end of the year. Approximately 6 million passengers were carried during the first ten months of 2022.
Air Astana has signed a contract to purchase three Boeing-787-9 planes as part of efforts to establish a direct flight between Kazakhstan and the United States. The liners are expected to join the carrier's fleet in the first half of 2025.
